Main identity in Entourage x

T

twombo

I'm trying to move the Entourage Database from the Microsoft User Data folder in a previous system folder to the new system folder after removing OS X Leopard and reverting to OS X Tiger.

The error message received when I try to start Entourage is :

"You do not have write access to the Entourage application
folder. to run Entourage you must have the administrative user remove the Identities folder from the application folder. For more information, see the Entourage Read Me file."

Needless to say Entourage does not start.

I have the Main Identity folder and the enclosed databases safely in hand but I don't fully understand the error message enough to make the needed corrections.

I'm logged in as Admin.

thanks

I noticed that I have over a dozen identities, but I only thought I had one. I assume new ID's were created each time Entourage crashed and the database was corrupted. The names are so long I can't see them, and when I go to my user file to view them, they all say the same day (today). I want to delete all the unnecessary identities, but have no idea which is the current one, or whether I will be throwing away my current info. What can I do?

This is a first!!! Entourage does not create new Identities when you crash.

This is what you should see:

Office 2008 Identities
Main Identity
database
Mailing lists
Rules
Signatures

(see screenshot) <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/database/index.html#db1>
What exactly are you seeing as duplicates? You can send me a screenshot off
list.

What version Mac OS X are you running?

What version Microsoft Entourage are you using? Including update if any. How
to find version info:
