Project 2007, Visual Earned Value Over Time Report

Having some problem with this report. When I look at the ACWP, BCWP and BCWS
in for example the TaskUsage view I get correct information. When I then
create the report the AC is correct, the Planned Value (which I thought would
be BCWS) is correct for most weeks... But Earned Value (which I thought
should be BCWP) is not showing the TimePhased values. I´m using % Physical
Complete as Earned Value method. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Agneta,

If you add ACWP, BCWP, and BCWS to the timescaled (right side) of the
Task Usage view, do you see those values for the assignment rows? The
Earned Valued over time report is based upon the assignment cube, so
if you don't see values in the timescaled portion, I imagine it's not
the report -- it's more likely due to a setup issue.

Are all tasks set with Physical % Complete as the earned value method?
Do you have resources with costs assigned?
Have you supplied tracking data?
Do you have an accurate status date?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie

The answer to all your questions is Yes.
When I look closely to BCWP in the Timescaled portion of the Task Usage I
notice that in my Test-project I see the same value for all three weeks (80,
80, 80) on the Assignment row but in the Task row it shows correctly (33, 67,
80)?? Shouldn´t the task row show the summary of the assignments?

Hope for more explanations / Agneta

Hi Julie

After posting my previous answer I found your discussion with Mike
(7/30/2008) about BCWP. Feels like we are having a similar problem. / Agneta

Hi Agneta,

It sounds as though things have changed between your two postings.
Initially I though I information in the Task Usage view was showing
correctly but the Earned Value over time report was incorrect. From
your response below it appears as though the information in the Task
Usage view is incorrect as well.

Can you zip the test-project file and send it to me? My email address
is prjng at maine.rr.com.

Yes, but the only problem with that is Mike is not using Project 2007
and therefore doesn't have the visual reports available. It may be
related, but I don't think so -- he's using a different release and I
don't think he's using Physical % complete.
