"0" appears in Mail Merge

I am doing what I think is a simple merge of data from an Excel sheet into
mailing labels in Word. However my "address" column in Excel (which contains
address data) merges into the Word labels with only a "0" where the address
should be.

I can't seem to get the address data over. Any help is very much appreciated.

It always helps to tell us which version of Word (or Office) is involved?

In this case, please also copy the contents of a couple of these cells into your
reply so we can see what kind of data it contains.

Best guess: the majority of the first eight or so records have numeric content,
only, in this column. So Excel is marking it as numeric and passing a 0 for all
records that contain text.
