0x80070005 and "Access Denied" error with attachment

I have a user at a remote site who is getting the 0x80070005 error and
"Access Denied" when he tries to attach a specific XLS spreadsheet that has
his weekly timesheet. He is accessing our server from a remote computer off
site, so I am not able to look at it first-hand. Here is the setup we have:

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise w/ SP1 and Exchange 2003 Enterprise w/ SP2
Symantec Antivirus Corporate 9.0 w/ newest definitions

Windows XP w/ SP2 and Internet Explorer 6

He is a novice user that is using Outlook Web Access when he gets these
errors, which started last week. He has no problem attaching any other
spreadsheets or other documents. What happens is he does a new message in
his browser and when he clicks on attachment button, it immediately brings up
the Open window (not the attachment window that OWA normally uses). When he
selects the spreadsheet document it gives him the 0x80070005 Access Denied
error. From what he told me over the phone, it appears to attach the file to
the message. But when he tries to send the message, he gets the same error
again and the message does not send. I don't notice anything in the event
viewer on the server that is related to this problem. Nothing has changed
server-side from a week ago. He said that he might have run Windows Update
when it asked him, but other than that, nothing else has changed on his end
(that I am aware of). I am in the process of having him export his event
viewer logs and sending them to me, but does anyone have any suggestions of
what I might be able to do in order to resolve this problem? I am just
wondering if someone has possibly seen this error before. Thanks for your
help.
