2003 format gone bad

I was typing an email and must have pushed a function key
of some type symbols are alover the place when I want to
send an email. It appears it is some type of formating
thing. Anyideas as to whhat I did or how to turn it
off???? Thanks

You might want to check out the toolbars. Tools --> Toolbars and see what
you have up and maybe you have one up there that you didn't intend to have.
