2007 Office Program error message closing 2003 file

When I open a file from any of the 2003 office programs into 2007, it opens
fine but when I close it, I get an error message (Microsoft Power Point (or
whatever the program is) has encountered a problem and needs to close) and
then the program reopens. The data is saved ok but it's irritating getting
the message all the time. I downloaded the file a few months ago for the
converting of the 2007 files into 2003.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

As an aside, you don't need the compatibility pack if you're using Office
2007 -- only if you're using Office 2003. The compat pack enables Office
2003 applications to open and save Office 2007 file formats. Office 2007 has
the ability to save in 2003 format built-in.

Anyway, try running Office Diagnostics. Open Word, go to Office Button |
Word Options | Resources and run the diagnostics there. Hopefully that will
take care of it.

If that's not it, check your add-ins (listed in Office Button |
<application> Options | Add-ins. Older versions of Add-ins will often cause
these types of problems. Acrobat especially comes to mind.

Thanks for the note about not needing the compatibility pack. I tried your
suggestions and they didn't work unfortunately. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Bummer. I'm out of suggestions. Hopefully others will pop in with some
ideas.

That's ok. I appreciate your help. Maybe I'll try uninstalling the update
that you said I didn't need. Have a great day & thanks again!
