2007 SP1 failed to install

I tried three times to install Office 2007 SP1. Once with my firewall and
Anti-Virus programs running. Once with firewall and anti-virus disabled. And
once from the Windows Update. All three times the install failed.

Have anyone else had this problem? and is there a fix?

What kind of error code (if any) are you getting? Also, what architecture
(see my earlier post of problems on Vista Enterprise x64) and what editions
of Office and Windows?

You might try creating an installation log, though I can't say if the
information within it will be useful. If you've downloaded the SP run
something like:

office2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us.exe /log:"C:\temp\2007SP1SetupLog.txt"

Cheers.

There are no error codes. Receive only an error message stating that "this
package failed to install." This happens at the end of the installed
routine.

I'm running Vista Home Premium 32bit with all updates.

Here is a copy of the Install log. It's different from the others I have
seen here. Sorry for the attachment.

PS: I can't send the attachment cause it's too large. MS server rejects it

Put your Office 2007 disk into your CD\DVD-ROM and then install the SP1 while that Office 2007 disk is in your CD\DVD ROM

Hi Peter

I thought this would do the trick but no luck, still fails to install.

These are the messages I get;

First message: This package failed to install

Second message: This program <filename of SP1> stopped working and will be
closed.

It fails to install using the full SP1 download and from Windows update

Download the SP1 from the Microsoft download site and try installing it then. DO NOT use the Windows Update one

Peter,

I have been using that file.

I finally broke down and uninstalled MS office 2007 and reinstalled. I
applied SP1 from MS' download site and all went well. This time when I
installed I did a complete install. The first install was not a complete
install.

Thanks for your help Peter
