24 hour work schedule

Working with Project 2002, my base calender is set at the standard 8 hours/5
days. I have a resource which run 24 hours/7days. I've set this resource's
working time to 24 hours.
When assigning this resource to a 21 day task, the start and finish dates
have a span of 7 days! Solutions? Thanks.

Susan,
Project is doing just what you tell it. So what is the question?

In Project the value displayed in the Duration field is based on the
hours per day setting under Tools/Options/Calendar. That parameter is
not customizable for each resource or task. At 8 hours per day, 21
duration days translates to 168 hours of work. However since your 24
hour resource works continuously, the total span start to finish is 7
days.

Hope this helps.

Project uses days ase work days defined by the project calendar. Resources
with their own calendars can impact finish dates because of their work
schedule.

Try making the task 21ed (Elapsed Days) which are calendar days not business
days. Assign your 24 hour resource.

What would be the best way to enter this task to run 21 calendar days?
Thanks.

Susan,
I looks like Jim answered your question.
