Access 2000 / Office XP (2002)

Brendan,

We have an mdb coded using Access 2000. We do not have the time or expertise
to deal with a conversion. The back end is a SQL 2000 database. We are
unable to run it on an XP Pro running Office XP/2002, is this an expected
issue? Our new 'standard' is Office XP(2002) running on XP pro (old one
Office 2000 on Windows 2000).

Thanks.

Was this posted as a response to something that I posted? Outlook Express is
indicating that it was, but I no longer see the post to which this is a
response, and can't find anything in my 'Sent Items' folder with this
subject line. As none of the previous post is quoted, I have none of the
context available to me. All in all, I'm groping in the dark here! :-(

For whatever it may be worth, my experience has been that most apps that
work with Access 2000 on Windows 2000 should work with Access 2002 on
Windows XP.

Sam,

Hope nobody minds me putting my 2 peneth in, I would agree with Brendan
in that any database created in Access 2000 should be compatible and
work fully in any of the later releases of Access. I have written many
Front Ends for SQL databases in Access 2000 and run them on Access XP
and 2003.

I would suggest that you could take a copy of the .mdb and then try to
convert it using the access convert facility. The other alternative
would be to use the Access 2000 Runtime engine but you would then be
unable to alter the front end database.

If neither of these are preferable or doesn't work and you really are
stuck, there are many people out there (myself included) who can take a
look at your database and for a small fee will convert it for you.
