Access 97

Mary Culver

I had to take away administrative privileges away from
all users. They are running Windows 2000 with Access 97.
I gave them Full Rights to the Office 97 folder. I also
went as far as giving them access to the Winnt Folder,
which I really don't want to keep those rights for these
users. Ever since I have taken privileges away, all kinds
of strange things have been happening. I went as far as
rebuilding a few machine's and it did fix the problem,
but there are a lot of machines. One of the errors is
when a user creates a text file by importing it from
Oracle; then they import it into an Access 97 file. Open
the Access database and you're in the Tables box tab.
From the toolbar, go to Tools-Analyze-Documenter, again
you are in the Tables box; choose a table (Now at this
point you can print fine), but the user wants to be able
to Select Options from the Print Table Definition. In
this box, you can not do anything. Try to uncheck or
check any boxes and the error come up. Application-
defined or object-defined error. I have installed the
MDAC as well. Nothing works. Any suggestions would make
life easier.

Another problem: Try to open up a particular database in
Access 97 and get an error Function isn't available in
expressions in query expression 'Format([Key], "0000)
& "/" & Format ([ProgHeader]! [ProgKey], "0000"). Also
says the Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the
process because you and another user are attempting to
change the same data at the same time.

For both problems - I have also tried uninstalling and re-
installing; I have used the Regsvr32.exe to Register the
DAO files,

Thank you,
Mary
