Activating Check Boxes

C

Chris @ SelCo

I have been given a word document with check boxes. I am
now having to "activate" those check boxes. Basically, I
need to convert these check boxes so that you can click on
any of them and it will electronically put a check in the
box. At this point, this cannot be done. I have Word
2002 and need some info quickly.
How do I activate these check boxes so that I am able to
click on them and choose the box I want with an "x" or
some other letter or symbol.

Thanks
Chris

Sounds like your document needs to be a "form." Check the
help feature in word for information on how to create
forms.

Press Alt-F9 to display field codes and search the document for the word
"checkit." If none is found, look for FORMTEXT. Press Alt-F9 to hide the
field codes again.

If you found "checkit" use Tools => Templates and Add-Ins... to attach your
template to any of Microsoft's FAX templates. You'll probably find them
under c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033.

If you did not find "checkit" but found FORMTEXT, use Tools => Protect
Document => for Forms to activate the boxes.

If these don't work, write to the person who sent you the form and ask them
what gives.
