Actuals entered by resources moves out finish date of task

When a resource updates actuals in an external timesheet (PWA or internal
timesheet system), and the actual start date is moved forward as it should to
the first date the resource has booked time on, the remaining work is
scheduled inconsistently with weird work values such as 0.18 per day for more
than 15 days, where the resource was initially scheduled for only 3 days at a
100%.

Please assist.

Hi,

This happens when an assignment was put to 100% done and remaining work is
added afterwards.
To correct this inconsistency in that case you have to re-enter the
%allocation, sorry :-(

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this was not the case. The resources
only add actual hours worked per day, unless they add exactly the amount of
hours work was scheduled for and therefore the task is set to 100% complete
and it has the same affect as when you make a task 100% complete manually in
MSP????? And then the PM added remaining work.

Okay, I've definitely confirmed, the resource didn't add as much or more than
the scheduled work and the PM never set the tasks to 100% complete???

Hi,

Well I can definitely confirm that I have never seen this happen the way you
describe, in no version of Project I know. As long as timescaled actual work
is entered less than the planned amount of work, remaining work is
rescheduled along this initial assignment %.
