Add new resource to existing task in progress.

I have a task where the resource will not be able to meet the desired finish
date. I want to add an additional resource to help out on this task. The
way I did this is add the resource to the specific task at 25% allocation.
Assuming an 8 hour work day, I will get 2 hours per day from her, which is
what I want. The problem is since this task was already in progress, how I
get the starting time of the extra resource to start on the day I add her to
the resource to the task. I ended up going into the task usage view and
specifically selected the days to add the 2 hours in the “work†field. Is
there a better way to do this? I wanted to just add her to the task and
assign the allocation. The end result accomplished my goal, because I was
able to get the task done on time with the extra help.

Hi Joe,
If the task type is set as Fixed unit and not Effort driven, the Status date
set at the last update, you just have to assign the second resource
via the Assign Resource dialog (Units = 0,25)
