Add-on editing tools to manage repetitive words

does anyone know of an add-on to Word that will look for repetitive word
usage, ie, search my document and highlight every use of any repeated word?

Hi Scott,

It probably wouldn't be much use, since in any text of moderate length,
most words will repeat.

You can test this with a wildcard search:
Edit > Find, check "Match wildcards",
Find what: (<[!^13^32]@>)*\1
This will select text between repeated words.

Doug Robbins, I, and others have posted macros to create word frequency
statistics (= a list of all words and how often they occur).
For example:
http://www.google.com/[email protected]

That might help you to figure out which words you have used "too often",
and occasionally may want to replace with synonyms.

If you know what words you feel you have repeated too much, you can use Find
to find and highlight a word or root of word (e.g. Soci for society, social,
etc). There's a checkbox setting in Find to highlight found words.
