Adding fields all projects

Our company uses ms project server 2003 and project professional. I'm
still a newbe and would appreciate your help.

We're trying to add a new duration field 'R&D' for users to edit along
with actual work. Currently we edit the custon duration field and
insert the field in a project. What I'd like to know is do we have to
do this for every project or is there a way to add the field for all
the projects on the project server.

Also do we have to do anything special to have the users to edit the
field in the web access task site.

Thanks for your help.

In the future, please post your question in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup as this newsgroup is going to
close down. To answer your question, it sounds like you want to do the
following:

1. Allow your PM's to see the custom Duration field in their Microsoft
Project plans.
2. Allow team members to edit the custom Duration field in their PWA
timesheets.

If I am correct, to address #1 above your Project Server administrator will
need to open the Enterprise Global file, create a custom Table containing
the field, and then create a custom View containing the custom Table.
Regarding question #2, refer to the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/changetimesheet.htm

To simplify things for your PM's, your Project Server administrator should
add the custom Duration field to every enterprise project template in your
Project Server database (not the Enterprise Global, though, as this will
have no effect at all). Your PM's should also click the Set As Default
button if they add this field to a new blank project. Hope this helps.
