Address Book empty; Entourage has contacts, though.

After I EXPORTED my Entourage Contacts into an Excel file, I spent 3 weeks
cleaning them up (removing dups, adding addresses and email addresses). I
them IMPORTED them back into Entourage. Once I examined them to ensure they
imported properly, I deleted the old ones.

Much to my surprise, when I clicked on the Address Book Icon, I have no
contacts over there anymore, therefore, Mobile Me cannot get my Entourage
updates to sync. I can, however, SEE all my contacts in the "Address Views"
section, but I get an error message when I click on the Addressbook icon
which has a yellow checkmark on it.

How do I get my contacts into the "now empty" Address Book"? I turned on all
the sync services and nothing is pulling from Entourage.

Any suggestions for me?

I'm assuming this is the Apple Address Book.

I'm getting lost here. Can you post a screen shot or prode more details
where you are seeing the yellow checkmark and "Address Views"?

You can post a screenshot link using a service like ImageShack, Flickr,
PhotoBucket?

This is a bit confusing the way you've described this. Did you import
your contacts into a new identity and delete the old identity to get
rid of the original contacts. If sync was turned on to the old
identity that's why your contacts would have disappeared from
Addressbook. I can't think of any other reason based on what you've
described.

I cleaned up the exported Excel sheet, then imported the contact back into
Entourage using a field to date stamp that date (in order to sort from the
others). I then started deleted the all of the others in Entourage. And as
I was deleting them, I did get a message that said I needed to select a
"This is me". Which I selected my personal contact card from my newly
imported list. Did that action create a new Identity in Entourage? Is that
why the Apple Address Book is empty? I can still see my contacts in
Entourage's Address Views, but in Entourage's Address Book icon (get an
error message". Sync was turned on at the time I exported/imported.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot this problem.

No!

Is that
why the Apple Address Book is empty?

I suspect that about that time Sync Services ran and were set incorrectly
resulting in the mass delete.
I can still see my contacts in
Entourage's Address Views, but in Entourage's Address Book icon (get an

Sorry this makes no sense. Can you rephrase?
Sync was turned on at the time I exported/imported.

Not a good idea to have sync turned on when making major changes. Turn off
then make sure you make the right selection to have Entourage overwrite the
Apple Address Book when you turn it on.
