advance find function is not working

L

lookgod

actually i posted this issue before but so far i still
haven't fixed it so i try once again to see anybody
can help.

my office computer's config is p4 2.4g, 256m ram and
running windows xp pro sp1 with outlook 2000. one day
i found that i can't use the advance find function of
ol2000. for example, right click outlook today>advance
find. i usually will put part of my customer's e-mail
address to the space box to check all incoming and out
going e-mail in date order in this way. but now it
shows nothing no matter how long time i wait. i also
see that the hard disk light is not flashing.
according to my experience, it happens ususally
because of the memory or resources not enough. so i
click ctrl+alt+del to go to windows task manager, then
the 2nd tag running application (i am using chinese
win xp so i just translate it myself, the name of
those text may not be exactly), i found that
outlook.exe shows 99 on the cpu column. and at the
bottom where shows the cpu usage is 100%. so i know
what makes the advance search not working. since this
function is essential for me so i must fix this
problem. after that i did so many test and still not
sucessfull. here is what i did and found out:-

1. i scan the pst with norton nav 2004. no virus
found.

2. i use scanpst.exe to check any problem with the pst
file. it founds no problem.

3. i export the original pst to a new pst, then use
the new one as the master pst. it has the exact
problem.

4. i open a new pst as the master and also keep the
original pst opens. fix it. no problem at all. but the
question is, if the original can't be the master,
those reminding i set on any items won't be pop up.
besides, it's difficult to handle contacts as well.

anybody can help?
