after check in, project in read only

hi,

We are using project server 2007, when a user opens a project from the
server she can change the project, publish it to the server and then close
it. She is asked if she wants to check in, she always checks in the project.

When later on she opens the project from PWA again, she gets the message
that the project is already checked out to her.

When I look at the locale cache of the MS Project, the project is defined as
not checked out to this user. But she cannot open the project in read/write
mode. The only solution here is that she always has to clean up her cache
(removing the project that is "checked out" to her) then she can open it.

I don't think this is normal behavior, what can I do to solve this.

Hi there,

Firstly I would recommend that you upgrade to the latest Service Pack and
Hotfix Level (Feb CU).
Then re-create the users profile.

also, how are you closing down projects? the Project should be closed
before the application. Does this make sense?

This was a common issue on the software upto the Infrastructure Update.

Hi,

Thanks for the response, I'll see if I can update the server. How do I
recreate the user profile, isn't she going to lose all her settings?

She does this:
- first she publishes the project to the Project Server
- when this is finished she saves the project
- then she closes the Project with File \ Close; then Project asks her if
she would like to check in the project, she clicks "yes".

Hi,

The server has SP 1 installed, I found these hotfixes but I cannot determine
which I should install on the server to resolve this issue, do you know the
one I need?

You said something about Febuary CU, is this the one released in March?

Was your problem solved? I'm having the same problem, and it is very
annoying. I have to manually delete the cache every time before opening a
project, otherwise I get the message that I can not open it because it is
locked by me.

Well actually, I did not went through because we are going to migrate the
Project Server to a new platform, so we are waiting untill this is complete.

I'll post the answer if we come to a result.
