I just reinstalled Windows. I've done it several times before, but never had
this problem. When I try to install Office 2000 Premium, it says it is "on a
network resource which is not available." Clear as mud. What "network
resource" could they be referring to? What the Office setup is looking for
is a file called a718c.msi. I remember that file being on my system before.
It isn't anywhere now, and I've searched like mad for it.
It's possible I got a bum reinstall of Windows. For one thing, I can't for
the life of me get My Computer to show my second CD ROM drive, labeled Drive
F. It shows my DVD just fine. The shortcut I had for Drive F still works,
and so does the CD ROM itself. It's just not on any list where Windows shows
the drives on the system.
When I reinstalled Windows, one of the last things it does is take you to a
"RunOnce" site on the Internet. I remember that I clicked something
incorrectly and the page never loaded, but I didn't think it was any big
deal. Could that have caused these problems?
I really don't want to reinstall Windows again if I can avoid it - getting
everything back on track is a pain.
Can someone tell me how to get my system to show this a718c.msi file? I
can't open Word docs that have a password, and I need to.
Thanks.
