I keep getting this error message when I open PPT, Word or XL. I have removed
the previous install, rebooted, reinstalled (three times!) and still not luck.

From your log: "Application Version: 12.1.6.090218"

I'm not sure where you are getting your updaters, but there are only two
updaters needed (only one if you have one of the newer DVDs) 12.1.0 SP1 and
12.1.9. You shouldn't be doing those incremental updaters that have been
rolled into the combos.
1: MicrosoftComponentPlugin: /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft
Word.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/MicrosoftComponentPlugin.framework/Versi
ons/12/MicrosoftComponentPlugin

A framework error normally means one or more components of Office have not
been updated correctly and are now out of synch with other bits. The
Microsoft Component Plugin file is the one file that indicates you are fully
updated. Be sure to read this page for more info:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/error/framework.html>

How did you remove? Drag to trash or use "Remove Office"?
Did you install with all applications quit?
Did you restart after installing?

"Remove Office" in Office 2008 does not remove everything. It does not
remove the following:

/Library/Receipts/office2008....
/Library/Fonts/Microsoft folder with fonts
/Library/Automator workflows
/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Folder (contains MERP,MAU)
/Library/Spotlight/mdimporter

~/Library it does not remove any Microsoft .plist files or the Microsoft
folder in the Library folder containing files and prefs.

Thanks Diane. I'll try this.

To answer your questions, this is a new install (as in Tuesday)/ The install worked for 1 or 2 passes at each application and then it stopped and this came up. The only updates that were applied were Apple Updates to Safari, iLife, etc.

I removed using remove office as that was what most of the MVPs suggested in similar situations. I did not touch anything in the Library.

We saw some conflicts with the Safari 4 beta, but AFAIK the final version
has not caused Entourage crashes. Did you restart after installing?

It's possible some of the things like fonts that were not removed are part
of the problem. Removing the receipts can also help if the AutoUpdater is
not seeing that you need new updates because it thinks you are already
installed.

Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or
if it¹s your User¹s folder that contains the problem. Once you can
eliminate the source of the problem, we can find a solution.
