Alternate template at startup

I have created and saved a project as a template. I want it to be used at
startup of a new Project rather than the "blank project" template. How can I
accomplish this?

You need to replace the global.mpt that Project is currently using. You
should search for global.mpt, copy anything from it (views, calendars,
macros etc) that you want to be in your new template, rename global.mpt
and then put your template in the same directory and rename it global.mpt.
