I ran the 10.1.4 update and was dismayed to see that it updated
only Excel and Powerpoint. When I launch Word and Entourage
they both quit seconds after I attempt to start them. I've tried
several ways of launching them - dock, icon in the Office folder,
clicking on a Word document- all to no avail. When I do a get info
Word and Entourage show as version 10.1.0, while Excel and
Powerpoint show version 10.1.4, which is strange since I ran the
10.1.2 update when it came out. I rely on these programs. Any
suggestions on how I can regain the functionality of Word and
Entourage and, in the case of Entourage, not lose all my data?
I'm running 10.1.5 on a dual USB iBook.
Thanks,
Anton

I downloaded the updater because my company uses Exchange 2000.
Unfortunately, it doesn't complete the update process. I get to the
screen where it is allegedly copying files and it hangs there, with
nothing apparently copied. (It's supposed to be finding a qualifying
product...I have Office X installed in the Applications folder of all
places)

I have left it there for hours on end before I had to force quit. I
have restarted it several times, and also tried to click the "select
folder" button to the same effect (it hangs there immediately).

This is not very impressive.

I'd suggest that you use the uninstaller in the Office CD to remove
Office (after backing up templates and other customizations). The
install Office THROUGH THE INSTALLER. Update it to 10.1.2, repair
permissions on your Mac with the application Apple provided:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900
and then re-apply the 10.1.4 update on top of this (you might repair
permissions once again actually).

I am having a similar problem. The installer does a search and then tells me
I don't have office on my machine. It won't allow me to manually select the
folder to update either. Interestingly, I had no problem on my iBook, just
on my iMac. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave
