Applications strange behavior

Sorry -i posted this in another newsgroup - but it seems not very active

Office 2K isn't working correctly for me - I log on with administrator
rights using WinXP just installed SP2...
However - problems described below do not occur for another family user or
Guests on the same PC who logs in with user rights.

Word 2K - when i open an existing saved document - Dialogbox says "Word
cannot open the existing "box
Click ok - get a file in use message - xxx.doc is locked for editing by
another user " - however, i am the only user .when i close - get message
that Normal.dot already exists. Do i want to replace existing file? This
question is asked twice I've answered no.each time..
I just picked up my PC from the shop today - because i suspected a virus -
however technician says it is clean.

Excel2K-opening an existing workbook -
xxx.xls cannot be accessed. File may be read-only, blah, blah - but file
isn't read only.

Access - doesn't open at all - just a gray screen
powerpoint seems to be working correctly
Any ideas?

If Norton/Symantec Antivirus is installed on your computer, then disable the
Office Plugin that comes with that program. See

Thanks Garfield - didn't help
I think i messed up when i changed my username -and the problem appears
somehow related to my username-WinXPPro SP2, Office 2k
When i log on in my account - strange behavior occurs- Blackice and osa.exe
take up 100% CPU
when i disable them in task manager usage drops to 3% idle up to 97%
Office applications won't let me use them.

When i switch to Guest or Wife's account - everything works ok when logged
in under those profiles..

In Windows explorer - my account -documents and settings appears ok
However, in Wife's or Guests - my documents, my pictures, etc. diplay with
my old user name instead of my current user name
