Are there known problems loading Office 98 on Windows ME?

Our ministry was donated a PC with Windows ME. In the process of migrating
our data and programs from Windows 98 we have encountered several problems.
The latest being when loading Office 97...PowerPoint loaded ok, but Word and
Excel will not load properly. Is this a known problem?

Office 97 should work with Windows ME. What problems are you having?
What error messages do you get?

When I loaded Ofice 97 it appeared to install properly without errors, but
when I try to open Word and Excel I get a message that says that they are not
installed and that I should install them from the CD. PowerPoint laoded and
runs properly. I uninstalled Office and reinstalled with the same results -
PowerPoint works and Word/Excel says I need to install them.

oh yes - there are no error messages except when trying to run them...that's
whenI receive a message that they are not installed.

You might recall that I asked you, "What problems are you having? What
error messages do you get?" Please quote the error message(s) in their
entirety. "that they are not installed" is not the error message you're
seeing...

I'm finally back...after uninstalling Office 97 and reinstalling several
times, this time I deleted all directories and anything relating to Office
97. I reinstalled again and this time it installed all of it correctly.

That's normally the best way to solve problems like this since it allows
the problem to be fixed without having to figure out the root cause of a
flawed installation. Fule: Fix flawed installations by re-installation.
