Vijay

Hi,

I have a task which starts from May 28, 2007 and finishing on June 30, 2007
and i have 2 resources A and B assigned. now i came to know that this task
should be extended and i will be needing one other resource to complete the
extended work of this task. I need to remove resources A and B after June 30,
2007 from this task.
I am not able to remove these resources from that task.
Can anybody please help..

Hi Vijay,
Don't remove the first 2 resources.
Before extending the task duration, display the Task Form at the bottom of
your screen. (Window : Split)
For this task Form, apply the Format / Details / Resources Schedule
Under the first 2 resources, select the third one, enter the Work value, and
set a Delay which will be the previous duration of that task.
Hope this helps,

Hi Gerard,

Thank you very much for the help on this.

I have one more question. If i have to assign resources A and B to some
other tasks after June 30, 2007, then how to handle this situation.

In the split screen view, the Resource Schedule form, you can set the start
dates and work required for each resource separately. If you have a task
with 2 weeks duration, resources Jow and Bill assigned, you can say Joe is
doing 40 hours of work at 100% while Bill does 80 hours of work at 100%.
Now you'll see Joe and Bill both start together, but Joe finishes at the end
of one week and goes away while Bill continues on by himself for the second
week. Or assign them both at 40 hours each - the task is 1 week duration
and the start and finish together. But add a 1 week delay for Bill and now
the duration become 2 weeks with Joe working by himself the first week and
Bill working by himself the second. Hope this give you some ideas how to
handle your specifc case.
