assign tasks show up as complete in Inbox but not tasks

When i assign tasks, the assignee will properly update the tasks and I
receive the icon showing it's accepted and complete in my inbox. However,
when i switch to my task list, the task appears that it wasn't complete and
still awaiting update from assigned owner. Any thoughts?
