Assigning mulitiple resources to a task

Miguel

When assigning multiple resourses with different working times to one task
MSP plans working time for the task during non working time for one of the
assigned resources. Should MSP not plan to the most restricted resource
working time?

Hi Miguel

If you go to the task usage view (it is on the view bar on the left) you can
see that each assignment is based on the individual resources own calendar
.... therefore your task may not have the same people working on it at the
same time.

The most restrictive calendar is being respected for the resource(s) who are
assigned to it

Hello Miguel,
MS Project works this way only when you are using a task calendar : in the
Advanced tab of the Task Information dialog, you attached a calendar to the
task and checked "Scheduling ignores resource calendars".

Hi Miguel,

Sorry, no, MSP assigns work for each resource based upon his/her individual
calendar, not based upon when all resources are available. A work around
that *may* work for your situation but can be rather labor intensive:
Create a new calendar that has only the common working times for all
resources. Assign the new calendar to the task (Advanced tab of Task
Information dialog box).

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

JulieS ... thanks ... what I did was assign the most restricted calendar to
the task (task information/advanced) and checked the box "Scheduling ignores
resource calendars". Similar to what you were suggesting. It seems to have
worked. Thanks for your help.
