Attached Documents to Contact

I posted this to an older thread relating to the same subject. However there
were no answers, so thought I'd try again in a new subject......

I have many contacts that I have attached excel spreadsheets with personal
calculations in Ooutlook 07. I just today realized, that these ARE NOT
UPDATED when I update the actual excel file from its normal storage folder.

If I open from the folder in my documents and edit the attachment, then save
it back to my docs with the same name, when I open the contact and open the
attachment from the notes, it is not updated. When I click properties of
the Outlook attachment, it
shows that the attachment is in temporary internet files!!
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.Outlook\filename....

Is there a way to change this and have the files that are attached to
contacts point to their actual storage place on my computer.

I am astounded that this doesn't happen automatically!!
