Attaching a file "Inline" with text

Hi,

This is a pretty simple question, but I can't seem to find the answe
anywhere.

I am using MS Outlook 2002. It automatically opens Word as the emai
editor. Now, I want to attach a file so that it appears as an ico
"inline" with the text, and NOT as an entry in the "Attachments" tex
box right under "Subject".

Note that I don't mean adding the contents of the attached file in th
body, but I just want the file to appear as an icon in the body of th
email.

I know this is possible, as I receive many attachments this way, but
can't seem to find the option to do it. Can anyone help?

If you use Insert | File, you should be able to click the arrow next to the
Insert button (after you select a file) and choose "Insert as text".

You misunderstood me. I don't want to post the contents of the
attachment as text in the message, I simply want to display the
attachment as an icon in the text. For some Outlook users, this
happens automatically, but for others it puts all attachments in a
little "Attachments" text box right under the "Subject" text box.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Only Rich Format messages will put the
attachment icon in the body of the message. But only other Outlook users
will be able to properly read a Rich Text formatted message, so you'll need
to make sure you use that format only when sending to another Outlook user.
