Audio Notes not in "Tools Menu"

I want to extract my audio notes, and the help file says to look under "audio notes" in the Tools Menu, but such a heading does not exist in the menu. The options are Spelling, Grammar, Thesaurus, AutoSummarize, AutoCorrect, Dictionary, Protect Document, Renumber, Sort, Calculate, Repaginate Now. This is not the first time the help files have told me to look for something in the Tools menu that isn't there; another time it told me to go under "Language." What is wrong?

ok, just called product support and it was a case of corrupted preference files. issue resolved!
