Auto update of links is broken

Anyone know if this is a know issue? My excel workbook feeds a publisher
document which has all the links set to refresh automatically, but what's
shown in the Pub document does not actually change when I change the excel
data. I have had to put the "link" button the tool bar and click it and
select all my ranges and press Update every time I change the excel sheet.

Any insight would be helpful.
