Autocorrect Problem

Hi. I am using MS WORD XP. Whenever I type three hyphens
in a row and press ENTER, WORD automatically creates a
full line across the page, which is not what I need. I
went to options to turn this off, but I can't find the
option. Also, to make matters much worse -- and this is
why I am asking for help -- I can't get rid the the lines,
even if I select it (or at least try to) and press
delete. Could someone please tell me how I can get rid of
these lines? Thank you.

Hi Rebecca

they're part of the "autoformat as you type" things ... (found under tools /
autocorrect / autoformat as you type) they're actually automatic borders
(and probably the only feature in this whole screen that i actually like).

Anyway you can turn them off permenently by going to tools / autocorrect /
autoformat as you type and unticking "automatic borders" or you can "undo"
them immediately they are created by pressing ctrl & z (or clicking the undo
key)
--- [Enter] [Ctrl] & [Z]

to get rid of existing ones, select the paragraph mark it's on (or grab a
few paragraphs either side of it) and choose format / borders & shading ...
and click NONE on the borders

Dear Rebecca,
I can imagine how frustrated you are. You have created
a 'border line' using one of Word's AutoCorrect Options.


To permanently turn off the option:
-Select Tools : Auto Correct Options from the action bar
-Select the Auto Format as you type tab
-Under Apply as you type, unselect Border Line

To remove the border:
-Position your cursor at the start of the line (border)
-Select Format : Borders and Shading from the action bar
-Under the Borders Tab, select the setting to 'None'

The line border is removed from the page.
