Autofit and copyfitting?

I am learning about text boxes. I have two text boxes and these boxes are
linked together (go to next text box icon is at the bottom. I want to
auto-fit =>best fit the text in the next box. I get the informative message
that I cannot use the auto fit with copyfitting in connected boxes, etc. So
I try to break the forward link thinking that then I could use Best Fit for
the box. However when I break the link, my text disappears in the box. I
realize that all my text is in the first text box now! Is there any way to
just break connected text boxes and the text so that text and text boxes are
split into two boxes both containing text?

Publisher version? Might try the edit story in Word and break the text up that way.
Or extend the text box until the end of the story, copy and paste the text into the
second box.

Yes, I forgot to put the version 2003. Guess there is no simple split or
chop command. Oh well I worked around it with cut and paste.
