Automatically rename fields ?

I need to programatically rename DOCVARIABLE field within word document -
any suggestions how to do it ?

I do have a collection of Word templates that have been created for an older
application, and since then manufacturer changed output field names so I need
my templates to match this new naming convention and would like to do it
automatically to make sure that nothing is missed.

Any help is appreciated.

Here are a couple of starting references, but note that you have the added
complexity of replacing language in fields so you would want to be
displaying field codes. (Note, be sure to set this back after you run your
macro!) Also, this fixes the fields, it does not do anything with the
variables themselves.
