AutoShapes in Word Problem

Gary

There is an end-user in my organization that is having an issue in Word.
Everytime he adds an autoshape, like a callout, it completly hides the
graphic image at the spot where he is placing the autoshape and everything to
the right of it. That is, it is not just covering the graphic image with the
callout, but half of the image "disappears" so, it has nothing to do with the
transparacy of the call-out itself.

I hope this description makes sense. I have looked at the properties of the
autoshape as well as the grouping and placement and all seems to be in order.

Any suggestions on what this may be? It does not happen in any of the the
other Office 2003 programs, just Word 2003.

Hello, Microsoft? I was hoping to get a response on this issue. This is the
managed newsgroup for TechNet subscribers, correct?

You might try dropping the Hardware acceleration a notch or two in
Display Properties. (Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot)

Hi Gary,

When you say everything to the right of it, are you talking about graphics only, or graphics and text or ???

Is the user in a Word drawing canvas or working on individual shapes within the document while in Print Layout view?

Is it only in one document or any document, including a new one?

If the user starts Word in Office 2003 safe mode (hold ctrl key when starting) and creates a new document do they get the same
result?

Bob,

I asked the user to answer the questions your posed. Here is his reply:

When working with graphics the selection clears the data at the same size of
the selection. In text the selection places itself between the lines and
separates the text at the same size of the selection

I am working with the autoShapes and other items such as pointer, circle,
square … In word drawing from the tool bar

Any document including a new one

When I create a document in the safe mode, I get the same results
