Backing Outlook Folders

D

Deana

I need to quickly back up my inbox, outbox, calendar, etc
before I go out of town tonight. Is there a quick way to
do this, hopefully with the files attached to the e-mails?

Thanks for a quick detailed answer!

All of your data, including e-mail messages and their attachments, are
stored in a file with a .PST extension. Look here for all the information
you need on backup and restoration of Outlook data:

Thanks,Joyce

I thought I found it but I notice that it has a date from
one week ago even though I've done lots of e-mailing
since. And another, older PST file that I saved way back
when, but whihc I haven't touched in months shows today's
date. What is going on?

Also, I assume this will also have subfolders within my
inbox, etc, right?

One other thing: With all the files attached to many of
the e-mails, one of these PST files is about 1.2GB! I
know I will need to do something soon, or risk loss but
for now, can I zip a copy so that I can fit it on a CDRW?

You can find the exact path to your .PST file:

1) Right click its root folder in your Folder List, usually "Personal
Folders" or "Outlook Today"
2) Click Properties
3) Click the Advanced button on the General tab
4) Find the file path in the "Filename" box.

Note that Windows 2000 and XP often put .PST files (the ones that are
automatically created, anyway) in hidden and system folders, so if you're
using one of those operating systems, you'd need to make sure you search in
hidden and system folders or you won't find all the .PST files.

Yes, all subfolders are stored in the .PST file.
