Bar Formatting with Resource Name

How can I have the resource name show up on each tasks' timeline bar?
I need to be careful where I add the resource name because when adding it in
certain areas it causes my task hours to be duplicated and that then throws
of other reports used to analyze task/project hours.

You may use the menu item Format/Gantt Chart Wizard... to format all the bars
to show resouces. To format an individual task bar, right click on it and
select "Format Task Bar" (From there it is pretty intuitive)

When assigning resources, never assign resources against a summary task as
that will overstate your hours.

Jim thank you for the response. When I used the Cantt Chart Wizard it
formatted all bars except the one that are shown a the process bar (when
looking at it through the view of Tracking Gnatt and Gnatt Chart) and when I
right click on the bar I am unable to customize it. Where am I going wrong
in applying your comments? I want to assign a resource name to each bar at
the highest level so that when I print a Gnatt view it shows me who is the
process owner and when the process is to go.

Hi Chris,

Pardon me for jumping in. As Jim noted, you do not want to assign
resources to summary tasks. (I assume summary tasks is what you are
referring to when you talk about "each bar at the highest level.")

An option that will not create the nightmare of having resources
assigned to summary tasks is to add the "Contact" field to the Task
table (left side of the Gantt). Enter the name of the "process owner."
Then customize the Summary bar to show the Contact field.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
