Does anyone know of an access database template for baseball card collection?
Does anyone have suggestions on which database template can be modified most
effectively to create one? I am new to access and have access 2002. Any help
would be appreciated

It's been some time ago but I remember finding a baseball database
already set up for about $30. It even let you enter entire sets with one
entry and then it would break out the sets into individual cards. A
condition could be assigned and a value would be given to the card
accordingly so that the entire collection could be given a dollar
valuation. I'll bet if you did some poking around you could find one
similar. Here's a link to start. Watch for line wrap.

Aw come on, don't take all the fun out of it! Buy one indeed! And from a
place called FreeDownloads Centre! It's $48 dollars now and that buys a lot
of cards and has no educational value. And if Kerry is a young 'un $48 is a
lot of pocket money.

Go on Kerry, have a go. Youll need a Player table which has all the details
of any player you can think of, a Sets table ,a Card table which contains a
link to the player table and stuff like Date Aquired, Copies....start
thinking of all the things you want to record about your cards and maybe we
can help you organise it into tables.

If you have the collecting instinct then that is a good mindset for database
design. You too could be a compulsive obsessive who stays up after midnight
answering letters.

Hi Kerry,

I would say in the 2000 Databases Music Collection and Household Inventory
look good. Remember, unless you build something from scratch you're not going
to get exactly what you want. However, if you're looking for something to
just keep track of what you have with a few bells and whistles for searching
and pulling a report to view your whole collection, then these would work
fine. If you are unsure of what to do with field manipulation, I sugesst you
only change the label name so you know what to add in that field. If you
change the label names and make notes and what the field are you are
changing, you will be able to follow it throughout the database. All the
information will pull the same. Example: I believe one of the drop down boxes
was named Catagory. Change the label name to Team. In the catagory table,
enter all the baseball teams so now on the form you can select the team of
the card and so forth.

Thanks Stockwell43, this is just the info I was looking for. I have found the
templates and will get started using your great suggestions.
