Hi,
My question is regarding modification of baselines, specifically when
project scope changes.
a. The project is baselined with all the required resources and costs.
The baselined cost of complete project is 'x'.
b. The project proceeded ahead and some tasks completed with
additional resources and/or extended schedules. The baseline cost for
the completed tasks was 'a'. But due to additional efforts/slippages,
the actual cost till then became 'b'. The overall 'Cost Variance' is
shown as 'b'-'a', which it should be.
c. At this juncture, there was a requirement to add another set of
tasks. These were added and baselined in 'selected tasks' mode
(without effecting the earlier baseline). The baseline cost for
these added tasks is 'y'.
d. Now the 'Cost Variance' shows 'y'+'b'-'a' and 'Baseline Cost' of
overall project continues to show 'x'.
Since this additional task is due to scope change, I would like it to
be added to the Original Baseline. That is, I would like to see the
project Baseline cost as 'x'+'y' and Cost variance as 'b'-'a'.
Pls let me know the steps to accomplish the above, without having to
re-baseline 'complete project'. (Current 'cost variance' information
will be lost if whole project is re-baselined)
Tks & Rgds,
