baselines

Hi There,

If I have a start that was supposed to start 7 days ago and last two
days but in actual fact the task started 5 days ago and lasted three
days. How do I input this into MS project? I want to be able to show
all the information above graphically such that anyone looking at my
Gantt Chart can say "Haaaa this task was supposed to start 7 days ago
and last two days but in actual fact it started 5 days ago and lasted
three days.".

Before doing anything, save a baseline (one time only, before posting in any
actuals). Then in the View menu, switch to the Tracking Gantt view. This
shows the plan alongside the baseline plan. Now again in the View menu,
select Tables, and choose the Tracking table. This is where you enter
Actual Start, Actual Finish, Actual Duration, and Remaining Duration (if it
hasn't finished yet).
