Better Intgration with Powerpoint Desperately Needed for Onenote

Hi

I know a lot of students have the same difficulty with Onenote as I am
having that prevents it being used by many as a proper notetaking app.

Is there any way that integration with Onenote and Powerpoint can be
improved? Say if I set a page in Onenote to be A4, then I print handouts (3
to a page) in Powerpoint, the slides will appear in Onenote as they would if
printed? Meaning 3 slides to an A4 page, and with room on the side to write?

At the moment when printing handouts (and slides) to Onenote, the slides get
cut off when you go to print preview - also, the individual slides are
imported HUGE as well.

Can't it be made so that what you would see when you print, is what you see
in Onenote? For example I have 3 handouts to a page with space on the side
for writing - why can't Onenote resize the slides so 3 fit on an A4 page
(when I use page setup and select A4) with space on the side?

But the main thing is slides getting cut off. When this happens, there's no
use with Onenote because printing is not an option. This is a dealbreaker for
many, and really should be addressed ASAP.

Regards,

Chris

Hello Chris,

Here is one technique which may help. From Powerpoint, I selected the
option to print in handout format, 3 slides per page. Then I installed the
print manager powertoy from
http://blogs.msdn.com/johnguin/archive/2007/09/19/an-addin-to-manage-printouts-to-onenote.aspx
and used it to shrink the printout to 70% of normal size and 1 printout per
page. I also selected to set the image as background (because I knew I would
eventually take notes on it).

That worked fine for the base page, but subpages were not A4 sized. I
changed them to A4 sized and they looked good.

Admittedly, there are a few steps needed, but using PowerPoint's print as
handout feature really helped.
