Hi project newby,

Apply the view you wish to change. Go to Format > Text Styles in the
menu. At the bottom of the Items to Change drop down list you should
see choices for:

Bar Text - left
Bar Text - right
Bar Text - top
Bar Text - bottom
Bar Text - inside

Select the appropriate item and select a new size. This will change the
text size in the current view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I hope someone can assist; this is taking me too long. I have a project plan
and am using the Gantt view. I see how to add text to the bar (i.e.,
format>bar>bar text tab), but I am getting an error when I try to add text.
The error is: "This value is not valid in the situation. Check to see if it
requires a text, a date or a number....). Please help! Thanks.

Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Project is somewhat misleading in this respect. You cannot enter free text,
What it will show is the text in a field, so you have to select a field
(like Resource Names, or Predecessors fields) for the text in those fields
to show up. If you want free text, then select, say, the Text1 field from
the pick list activated by the drop-down arrow. Then, back in the Gantt
Chart, insert the Text1 coulmn (field) and enter the text against each task
that you want to see. You could select the Notes field instead.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
