Booking type - Task & Resource

N

nde

Hi,

I finally found how to define the booking type for a resource. Though it
appears that the resource is being flag as proposed through the entire
project.

The situation is the following :

I do have a resource that is committed to certain tasks in the projects, but
it is not clear yet if this resource will be available to perform that task.
I would like to set that resource as proposed for specific task and comitted
to others.

The purpose of that is to be able to identify if teh resource is really
overallocated or if this is due to propsed allocation.

Any idea ?

Hi nde,

I assume you are using Project Server and an Enterprise Resource pool? If
so, you may have quicker response by posting your question to the Project
Server Newsgroup.

Hope this helps.

Hi Julie,

I am not using MSP server.
I am using MSP Professional 2003 stand alone on my machine.

But I am still able to define proposed resources...does not work well
though...;^)

Hi nde,

My mistake.

Although the booking type field is available in Project 2003 Professional I
*think* its intended use is for the Resource Substitution Wizard available
in Project Server. I believe it is also designed for what tasks are viewed
by resources in Project Web Access. I believe tasks for proposed resources
are not supposed to show in PWA. From reading a few comments on the Project
Server newsgroup, it appears as though there are a few bugs yet to be worked
out with proposed versus committed resources.

Hope this helps somewhat.
