Booklet Printing?

Hi All,

Is there a feature, tool, utility, or add-on that will format a word
document for booklet-style printing?

1. Our document is 48 pages, single-sided, 8.5x11, portrait
2. We want to maintain the document in this format, but
3. We'd also like to be able to print it in "booklet" style

We currently create the booklet by selecting 'Landscape' and '2 pages
per sheet' from the Page Setup menu. We then print out the 48 pages on
24 sheets of paper and drop that stack into the duplex copier.

At this point we could punch a staple into the upper left hand corner
and it would read fine: On the front of the first sheet would be pages
1 and 2 side by side. Flip sheet one over from left to right, and on
the back would be pages 3 and 4. Sheet two would be pages 5 and 6 side
by side, and so on.

However, our mandate is to deliver a half-sized document. If we simply
folded the stack of double-sided sheets in half & punched two staples
along the middle, the pages would no longer be in sequential order.

Keeping in mind that we'd like to maintain the document in it's current
format (single-sided/8.5x11/portrait), we have a single-sided printer &
a duplex copier, and we'd just like to be able to print this document
booklet-style once & a while, any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'd suggest abandoning your formatting restriction so that you can use
Word's built-in booklet printer, for 6.5x4.24 pages. This has the added
advantage of letting your know your actual font sizes, if you use those
numbers for formatting and layout calculations. (Most Word users don't
go that far.)

Alternatively, create a PDF, then write a clever script that re-orders
the pages so that you can print two-to-a-page and have them come out in
the right order.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll definitely look into word's built-in
booklet printer...
