Browsing to open a document

Using Word 2000, I want to open a document, and when I click on open and come
to the browse window, I click on the downarrow to get the drop down box, and
it takes about five minutes before it will come up, but eventally it does.
No other problems though.

Actually now that I've gone to different things, it seems to be an issue
everywhere, when browsing for opening and saving, and even on the browsing
the Internet between Web pages.
