Calender

Hi,

I am having problem getting all of my tasks to fit on to one calender page.
Is there a way to make the calender view go on to the 2nd page too, not just
a list of overflow tasks?

Thank you

Hi Renna,

Through several steps, you *may* be able to fit more tasks in the
Calendar view, but the view does have limitations.

In Format > Bar Styles, try dropping the font size down to 6. (You'll
need to type the 6 in the font size box.)

If you are displaying Summary bars and do not need them, turn them off
through Format > Bar Styles. Select Summary in the task type list and
set the bar type to None.

Change the bar styles for Noncritical and Critical tasks to Line from
Bar in the Format > Bar Styles dialog box.

Choose Format > Layout and select "Attempt to fit as many tasks as
possible". Oddly enough, if you gain additional bars in the print
preview doing this, you can then go back to Format > Layout, select "Use
current sort order" and you may still have more bars visible.

An other option you may have success with is to apply filters to the
calendar view. For example, if you want to print out the tasks only for
a specific resource, filter the view (using the filter drop down in the
formatting toolbar) to just display tasks for that resource. That may
also help with the too many tasks.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Renna,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

In Calendar view, if you move your cursor across the dividing line between
weeks, it'll turn into a two-way arrow. Click and drag down to increase the
space and reduce the overflows. You can also right-click on an empty space
and select Layout..., and in the dialog select Attempt to fit as many tasks
as possible.

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Julie.

Thank you, these have helped a bit, but I still have a few overflow tasks.
I Also have a few gaps where more tasks could be fitted in. Is there any way
I can move tasks to these gaps?

Hi Renna,

You're welcome. As far as moving tasks around. Yes, you can but you need
to be *very* careful to only move the tasks up and down, not side to side.
If you move task to the left or right, you will set constraints on the task.

If you place your mouse on the edge of the task your mouse will turn into a
small square with a four headed arrow. Carefully drag the tasks.

Again, the calendar view is somewhat limited, so you may not be able to fit
everything in.

I hope this helps.

Hi Julie,

I tried moving my tasks, which was fine, but the overflow tasks didn't go on
to my calender view. I tried layout, attempt to fit as many tasks, but this
still didn't work.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks
Renna

Hi Renna,

Other than using filters and moving tasks around, I'm afraid I don't.
There just becomes a point when there are too many tasks to fit in the
printed Calendar view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
