Can No Longer Edit Files

I have previously created PP files. Now Powerpoint will not allow me to do any editing of these existing files. The pull down menus are disabled(greyed).

Did you activate the product? If not, click the "Help" menu and select the
option necessary to reactivate your PowerPoint.
