Can not open any office file because of "virus scan has detected a

I get a message for any excel or word file that I try to call that
"The file can not be opened because your virus scan detected a problem with
the file". When I copy any of these file to my second computer they all open
normally.This occured after installation of Norton Virus Scan and does not go
away when the programs was removed.

As a suggestion,
If you removed Norton from add/remove programs, it's likely that some files
remain that are conflicting with Office. You can try here:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/ to dowload an uninstaller for your version.
If you can clean your machine, and still want to use Norton, be sure to
disable script blocking and the Office plug in on a reinstall of nav. May
help.
