can not update Office XP SB edition

Hello, I am trying to install Office XP SP3 for Office XP
small bus. Ed. I am told that the file PRORET.MSI can not
be found. I have searched the 2 office cds, and can not
find the file either. The office software was preloaded
by Dell on an Inspiron 8500 laptop. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

The file you mention belongs to the Office XP Professional edition, not SB ed. I'm not sure what your current configuration might be, or if any files have become corrupted. I would advise that you uninstall and reinstall Office (through Add\Remove Programs) and attempt to install the patch again.
