Hi, roy. You should read your End User License Agreement to see what
terms apply to your particular copy of Office. Generally, an OEM
version of Office (one that came with your computer) can only be
installed on the computer it came with. Generally, a retail version of
Office (one that you purchased separately from your computer) can be
installed on one desktop and one laptop computer owned by the same
person as long as both are not used simultaneously.
Yes, provided that it is:
not an OEM version of Office. or
not an upgrade version of Office 2000 unless you have the installation
disks for the qualifying product.

Yes, you can. Whether MS wants you to or not would depend on the EULA which
has never been tested in court as to its legality because, unlike the music
industry, MS hasn't sued any private users ... yet.

He said "can", not "may". An OEM copy of Office 2000 can be installed on any
computer and whether that's legal or not has not been tested in a court of
law.
All I said is that an OEM version can be installed and you disagree with
this?
Alias
: Actually Alias, given your "MIS-interpretation" nobody except the OP
: KNOWS whether the OP "CAN" install it.

Maybe, maybe not! "Can" implies "ability" and the op said "CAN I". You
called "Don" on "may" vs. "can" and I called you on "can" vs "can I".
Now I would suggest leaving well enough alone. ;-)
